FNWF 3/4/2020

Hi All,
           Thanks for all your comments, still having trouble commenting back.  On Friday we woke up to rain, which was great.  All up we had 35mls.  It was great to hear and see.  The rain water tank was over flowing again, which was great to see.  Some of the water soaked into the ground fast as it is thirsty.
          I did not turn my sewing machine on, as we had Lightening and Thunderstorms.  I had my machine unplugged to be on the safe side.
         I did get some Sashiko done which was good.

Onto the next part.  I have done more Sashiko this arvo so am more than half way done now.  

I also made a small bag to put things in.  

The Sashiko has been done over a few days.  It is great I am almost finished with it.  Just need to decide which fabric for the back.

FNSI 20th March 2020

Hi all,
         Lately I have been working on Sashiko.  I have 2 more parts to go then I will be finished.

I started this part earlier in the week and I got it finished on Friday.

I started on the next part and that is as far as I have gotten.

I also made another loaf of bread.  On Tuesday Brett had an appointment in Bourke so we went over on Tuesday morning.  We had had morning tea and lunch over there too. After lunch we went grocery shopping.  I found a 5kg bag of bakers flour so I bought it and some other grocery items that we cannot get here.  The bread turned out well.  

Thank you Wendy for hosting FNWF.  Through the week I have been cleaning out our pantry cupboard and have thrown out a lot of out of date items.  I still have a bit more to do.

FNWF 6th March 202

Hi All,
          I made a Fibre Art Postcard for a lady who lives in South Australia.  I appliquéd hearts onto some green fabric and did some hand sewing to the fabric.

My photos are all out of order again.   

This red and white hexie is for a lady in Our Craft Group.  As you can see I have not finished it.  I am going to do another one the same for her, then send both off.

Helen Parsons from our Craft Group sent me a sewing parcel.  In the Parcel was the red and black petals for a hexie flower so I have sewn it together.  

             

I also 

made a loaf of bread.  

We have had more rain

here last week and a few small showers which has been great.  We received 55mls of rain.  I need to download the photos to Google photos then I can add them on here.

Last week Brett and his Mum Fern went to Dubbo, as Fern had an appointment to go to during the week.  Some of you know that we are selling the property, it has been taken over last Friday by a neighbour that is East of us.  Brett and Fern were going to look at places in Dubbo, Fern looked at some, Brett wanted to look at a Property out of town and had it lined up for a look, but they did not get out there. So had to cancel.  As it had rained in Dubbo through last week.  It would have been too wet to look around the property.

Yesterday we went to town as we needed to drop Brandon into town as he went on a Residential School Camp on the Bus to Dubbo.  The road was very wet and slippery because of the rain.  There was lots of lightening and thunder around, not good when you are in a car.    Some paddocks were flooded because of the rain.  We got to town in the nick of time as Noel the Bus driver was about to sit down and take off. 

 Brandon will return home this Friday on the Bus.  

We got what we needed to get from town and went back home as it was raining in town, Brett rang his Mum and asked if it was raining there and she said it had not started.  

  When we were leaving to town Brett rang his Mum again and she said it was starting to rain at home.

FNSI 21st February 2020

Hi All,
            Thank you all for the nice comments.  I will try and reply to those later.  Through last week I was working on a QAYG that I started years ago and did not finish it.

So I have sewn the rows together and one row was a bit too short. So will give it a press with the iron and see if it will flatten out enough so I can sew the last row on.

On Friday I was working on some larger hexagons, doing another QAYG. 

So when I have those altogether I will post some pics.

The pile has 7 hexies.

The larger hexies that I cut were from a fabric swap that I was in earlier this year.  I will go and look at what you all have been up to soon.   Thank you Wendy for hosting the FNSI.

On Saturday Brett and I were invited to a Birthday party in town so we 

left a bit earlier as I wanted to get some groceries from the grocery shop.  We had a great night.  Yesterday it was Brandon’s 17th 

Birthday.  That time has gone fast.  Brandon has received an electric Ukulele from us and received clothes from Brett’s Mum.  He has a few more presents arriving this week.  

Our neighbours arrived here yesterday afternoon to wish Brandon Happy Birthday and Brandon played some songs on his Ukulele.  

We have had rain here too, all up 89 mls.  It has greened up which is great to see.  I will take some more pics and add them here when the hexies have been done.

Hi all,
         I am still having trouble replying to your comments.  Last FNSI I was working on some hand embroidery for a small bag.

I am still working on it.

The pin cushion that I was working on is finished.

  

I could not see the pics, but can now.  I still need to thread cord through the spools so they stay in their places.  As I type this on the iPad it is jumping up and down.  

I have also finished a small purse that I was given a few years back. But will make another blog post on that soon.

Hi All,
          Sorry I have not replied to the ladies who have commented on my blog posts.  I am having trouble commenting for some reason.  Thank you ladies for the nice comments. I will try and work out why I cannot comment.
        Years ago I bought a pattern for a pin cushion.  The pattern is called Thread Ready Pincushions by Indigo Junction.
            I will add photos so that you can all see what I have done so far as I am still working on one piece.
             When I have finished with the pin cushion I will post back here.  Not sure why the photos are sideways.

FNWF 6th December 2019

Hi All,
          Where has the year gone?  It has gone very fast for me.   Last week from the 2nd - 6th December 2019, Brandon and I went to Dubbo for the week. I stayed at my Sister and Brother In Law’s Property out of Dubbo.   Brandon had a School Camp to go to.  Also a Presentation Day on the Friday, where the Students receive awards and Certificates.
Through the week I was at Dubbo, on Tuesday I helped Jenny my Sister In Law with Paper work that they have for their Headstones and Momuments Business that she needed to get organised and needed to shred some paper.
         On Wednesday Jenny and I had lunch in town.  I wanted to buy some Crushed Walnut Shells.  Jenny needed to go to the Pet shop, I found out that Pet shops have Crushed Walnut Shells for Reptiles.  I bought a 1.8kg container of the Crushed Walnut Shells for $14.80.
   
I got to do some Christmas Shopping whilst in Dubbo. I organised to catch up with Trish a cousin of mine, we went to out to Tea and talked about a lot of different things.  It was great to catch up with her.  Trish bought me a small 2020 Diary and and a pack of 6 tubes of Crabtree-Evelyn Handcreams.  I have not taken photos of those yet.
          On Tuesday and Thursday I got in and did some Sashiko, and finished this block.  I started another on on Thursday night.
   My photos are out of order, not sure why, so sorry about that.
On Friday Morning it was Presentation day at the School in Dubbo, I talked to some of Brandon’s Teachers.  After the Presentation Day was done, we were all invited to have refreshments near the School Hostel, a new area had been worked on, a new Hall had been built, with displays of the Students artwork.
     
     I saw a few Friends that I went to High School with so caught up with them.  It was great to see them both.
On Friday afternoon Brandon and I caught the bus back home and arrived home close to 8pm. Another 8 days of School left then the Christmas Holidays.   It was good to get home and unpack.  Brandon and I were both tired from the bus trip home.
     I have a Pin Cushion pattern here that I bought online years ago, so I am going to have a go at making it up.  I gathered up all my thread spools to work out what size pin cushion to make.
         So that will be another blog post when I get it done.
